Feb-11-04  kutuzov: What a slaughter! Rc8 was a terrible mistake! And against Tal!
Feb-11-04  clendenon: Juan Bellon was just a kid when he pplayed this. now hes a GM.
Feb-11-04  Phoenix: Bellon also has a gambit named after him. 1.c4 e5 2.♘c3 ♘f6 3.♘f3 e4 4.♘g5 b5. It can lead to very interesting play, but it is just bad after 5.d3! exd3 6.cxb5! dxe2 7.♗xe2
Feb-25-06  dakgootje: <Juan Bellon was just a kid when he pplayed this. now hes a GM.> Uhm he was like 20, so not really a kid anymore when he was slaughterd here
Feb-25-06  slapwa: I'm not sure Rc8 was the significant mistake. If 6 ..., Qd7(orQd6) 7. exd5, Qxd5 8. Ne5 is still very powerful. Wasn't 5. ..., d5 the problem?
Feb-25-06  dakgootje: Think the problem was mainly black 3rd move b6, as its the only game in the database with that move, so little chance it was a good move.

FSR: 3...b6 was dubious, and 5...d5 even worse.
Jul-11-23  Gregor Samsa Mendel: The Computer thinks that 5..d5 was a real stinker, and that black would have been ok after 5..a6.

FSR: <GSM> Yes, it should be obvious that ripping open the center with your whole kingside undeveloped, while undermining your knight on c6, is suicidal. Bellon must have wanted to go home early that day.
