  Honza Cervenka: If 31...Kf8, then 32.Qxf7+! Kxf7 33.Nh6+ Kf8 34.Rg8+ Ke7 35.Rg7+ Kf8 36.Rf7#. Very nice final!
Feb-20-03  ughaibu: Or how about Qe7 Nf6 Kf6 Qg6 etc.

  Honza Cervenka: Oh, it's also very nice. After 31...Qe7 I saw "more prosaic" continuation: 32.Nh6+ Ng5 33.Bxg5 fxg5 34.Rxg5+ Kh8 35.Nf7+ etc., but 32.Nxf6+ is even better.:-)
Feb-20-03  drunknight II: its kind of a goofy game, black is ahead in material due to the pawn structure and yet he makes no attempt to trade material. Running out of space then becomes the order of the day, I guess if you dont want to trade material then time and space becomes the dominant strategy.

There is an opening similar to this called "Metger Unpin variation" it is a Four Knights game where white plays Bb5 and then unpins the N via Bc4. Or vice versa, black can play around and do the same thing his B comes out to b4 but then it can go back to c5.

I have messed around with it a few times and what I notice is that one side will eventually gain some positional advantage e.g. a Rook that pins piece to the K or something.

It was somewhat popular around the turn of the century, all those symmetrical games revolving around the Four Knights. Janowski I believe was the specialist in the unpin, look his name up with the Four Knights.
