Fusilli: Hm... there is also this game: Timman vs G Garcia Gonzales, 1978, that is recorded as also being from the 1978 Buenos Aires olympiad. These two could have certainly not played two different games in the same olympiad, right?

Phony Benoni: <Fusilli> Timman vs G Garcia Gonzales, 1978 is misattributed. Black in that game was the Colombian player Gildardo Garcia.

This can be checked at the Olimpbase site, http://www.olimpbase.org/1978/1978n.... Oddly, the two games were played in consecutive rounds, after which I'm sure Timman had seen enough Garcias to last him for a while.

When the Olympiads had preliminary and final sections it would have been possible for the same players to meed twice, but not after the Swiss System was adopted in 1976.
