  Chessical: <22...g5?> destroys his position in one move, and only makes sense if Nimzowitsch had thought that the pin on the <h6> bishop would be compensated for by his activity on the <g> file.

I do not believe that Nimzowitsch counted on his opponent playing <24. fxg5??> Qxg5+ 25. Kh3 Qg4+ 26. Kh2 Rg8 27. Qxc6 Qg2 mate.

In the end, Nimzowitsch finds that rather than enjoying any initiative, he must struggle to extracate his King from the pin on the <h> file. Meanwhile, Vidmar is given the time to break through on the other side of the board and win material.
