  tpstar: Instead of 24 ... f6, I wondered about 24 ... Re7 hoping to meet 25. Rxe6 with 25 ... fxe6 and the Rook covers g7. But White has 25. Rd8+! Re8 (25 ... Nxe8? 26. Qg7++) 26. Bg4 with no defense to 27. Bxe6 & 28. Qg7++ (26 ... Qxa2? 27. Rxe8+; 26 ... Qd7!? 27. Rxe8+ Qxe8 28. Bxe6 Qf8 29. Bxf8 Bxe6 30. Bxb4). The final position is resignable due to 26 ... Nxf8 27. Rd8 or 26 ... Qe8 27. Bh6 Qf7 28. Rd8+! Nxd8 29. Qxd8+ mates, or here 27 ... Qg6 28. Rd8+! Nxd8 29. Qf8++.
Jul-04-04  kevin86: Does anybody/everybody know that the Declaration of Independence's two main authors:John Adams and Thomas Jefferson,both died on the same day-July 4,1826-the 50th anniversary of the document!!? James Monroe,our fifth president died 5 years later on 7/4/1831.
Jul-04-04  Andrew Chapman: How about 24... Qc2 followed by Qg6 in some variations?

  tpstar: I'm afraid 24 ... Qc2 loses to 25. Rxe6! and Black can't capture 25 ... Bxe6/Rxe6/fxe6 due to 26. Qg7++, and Black can't capture 25 ... Qxb2 due to 26. Rxe8++. Therefore my previous post contained a mistake, because on 26 ... Qd7!? 27. Rxe8+ Qxe8 28. Bxe6 Qf8 29. Bxf8 Black must capture 29 ... Kxf8 to avoid 30. Qg7++, so White plays 30. Qxb4+ & 31. Bxc8 with an easy win. Those Kingside dark squares are glaringly weak, which White exploited beautifully.
Jul-04-05  Nezhmetdinov: America was an apartheid country until less than 40 years ago. Hurrah for America! America that gives 0.2% of its GDP in overseas aid, while Bush opposes any increase, Bush who claims that he puts America first over not increasing aid while preaching how he will bring Freedom to Iraq, America ruled by cartoon super-villain Rumsfeld... I'm from England and we are almost as bad.... But not quite.
Jul-04-05  aw1988: 6 kibitzes, this is pitiful...
Jul-07-05  fgh: It's strange that a game of the day had so few kibitzes. Of course, this was last year, when there were less users.
Jan-06-06  blingice: And also trolls like <Nezhmetdinov>.
