Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-06-09  backrank: A somewhat comical finish. Black surely thought that 25. ... Rb7 would give him advantage, since the white knight must not move due to Qxb2+. However, the rook move deprives the black king of its last flight square!

Note that 26. Qe8+! does not force mate, Black has still the defence Qd8 (!) at his disposal. However, after 27. Qxd8 Rxd8 28. Rxd5! (taking the same line!) the ending appears hopeless for Black.
