Anyone know Atabek's plan here?

  Sneaky: He had to prevent Qd7+, e.g. 19...Rxa3?? 20.Qd7+ Kf8 21.Rxf7+! Kxf7 22.Rf1+ Kg6 23.Qf5#
Dec-18-04  captcrisis: It wouldn't have killed him to castle, which would have prevented Qd7, or g6, which would have prevented Qg7. (19...O-O or 19...g6.) Why didn't he do this?
Dec-18-04  cuendillar: If 19...0-0 20.Bh6 winning the exchange
If 19...g6? 20.Qd7+ Kf8 21.Rxf7+, as given by Sneaky
So, it would actually have killed him to play those moves
Dec-18-04  holierthanthou: 19. ..0-0 and white has atleast 20. Bh6, which besides having a superior position also wins a rook for the bishop (20. ..Bf6 21. Rxf6)20. Bh6 g6 21. Bxf8 22. Rd7, and black is lost. 19. ..g6 20. Qd7+ 21. Rxf7+ Kxf7 22. Rf1+ Kg8 23. Qe6+ 24. Qf7#

kevin86: Didn't it seem that black was dead on arrival? It looked like he ever had a chance.
Dec-18-04  CHEG: <Sneaky> <cuendiller> Thanks for the feedback. I especially liked the Rook sacrifice, would have made a good puzzle.

JohnBoy: Is 16...Nd5 necessary, or is black already busted at that point? Maybe 16...Be7 would offer a bit more resistance.
