fredthebear: White exchanges off both bishops to open the g- and h-files, but does not have enough fire power in place to deliver checkmate. Although higher rated, one presumes White was satisfied with the fairly quick draw at this stage, particularly if he disliked facing this version of the French Defense. Or, perhaps White succumbed to the urge to conduct a kingside attack immediately after castling without fully appreciating Black's strengths on the dark squares, but this is shear speculation. This game was between a Spaniard and a Russian, so one doubts a strong friendship between the two players.

If there was a post mortem, perhaps the future grandmaster thought to play 13.Qe4 for a double attack next time.
