Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-23-04   shr0pshire: Ah the grob. Yuri plays very obscure openings, and he likes the Orangatun (Polish) as well. Lapshun could become a gm if he plays a bit more positionally, because he generally relies on brute force of his tactics.
Mar-16-04   Jman123: Is there a point to the opening move g4 or is it just an obscure notion
Mar-16-04   TrueFiendish: It is bait to compel black to play Bxg4 at some stage, losing time and opening lines. Also it is a precursor to Pg5, attacking the f6-knight and undermining the centre. Oh, and the king bishop can be fianchettoed. Is that obscure enough?
Mar-17-04   caballos2: Imo black has (apart from the last moves naturally) played a niece line to counter the grob. Any comments on 20...Ne5!? (thus attacking Ra4)?

Nov-17-05   prinsallan: Checking the opening explorer, the most successful openings start with g4. Feels a little strange to me, but I guess it is because it is uncommon.
