Chessical: Adams here plays a very precise positional chess in the manner of Capablanca, and tops everything off with a fine little combination. Hennigan's position never seems entirely comfortable after the natural looking 7...exd5.

Adams undermines Black's Q-side before Henningan can untangle his pieces and castle. <17.Nxf7!!> is the natural culmination of Adam's play: 17....Bxf7 18.Qxe7+ Qxe7 19.Rxe7+ Kf8 20.Ra7+

Sep-15-05  notyetagm: Damn, terrible play by Black. Black makes 9 pawn moves in his first 11 moves! <And my goodness, 6 ... d5?! and 7 ... exd5?, opening the e-file to your uncastled king for your better developed opponent?> What the hell? It's no wonder that Black later dies on the e-file. Hard to believe that Black was rated over 2400.

If you just showed me this game without telling me the ratings of the players involved, I would think that Black was like an 1100-rated player, someone who knows how the pieces move but does not really understand chess.
