acirce: 13..Be6 is an interesting but maybe not so convincing deviation from the usual ways these Petrov lines go.

<This move was played for the first time in the game Svidler-Ponomariov, Moscow 2001. The idea of the move is to force the exchange with d5 and take with the bishop. This avoids the lines where capturing there with the queen was exposing it too much.> is from Khalifman's "Opening for White according to Anand", vol. I, going on to approve Lukin's recommendation 15.Nd2!? instead of Svidler's move, giving the lines 15..Be6 16.Rb1 Rb8 17.Bd3 <White is regrouping his forces against the kingside of the enemy and his initiative is evident> and 15..Na5 16.Bd3
