JohnBoy: If 24...Nc4, I'm trying to find a forced win. After 25.Rf7+ Kg6, the best I can find is 26.Qe2, when 26...Qe6 27.R1f5 Qf5 28.Rf5 Kf5 29.Qc4 doesn't exactly wipe black off the board. Am I missing something here?

  tpstar: <JohnBoy> I think you're on the right track, but after 26. Qe2 Qe6 try 27. Qf2 threatening 28. Qg3+ mating along with 28. Rf6+ winning Q for R, and if 27 ... Qe5 28. Qh4 threatening 29. Qxh7+ plus 29. R1f6+ winning the Queen.

JohnBoy: Well done, <tp>! I missed 28.Qh4 in your line. Looks convincing.

computer chess guy: The sac is sound. Another defensive try favored by computers is 27 .. Qd6 28. Rf7 Rg8 29. Rxh7+ Kxh7 30. Bxg8+ Kh8, which does hold on longer, but White should still win (Shredder scores as +2 after 31. Bf7).
