  tpstar: Note 8. Nf3!? Bxf3 9. Qxf3 Qxc4 wins a clear Pawn, but even this is much better than the game continuation. I believe the ugly 8. f3 was White's best chance. In the final position, White is fatally weak on the light squares and faces 10 ... Re8 winning the Queen plus that loose Bc1. When openings go awry.
Dec-29-08   YoungEd: Took me a second ot figure out why Black quit here before reading the kibitzing, but the mate threat on c1 requires a knight move, in which case Re8 wins the queen for a rook. White's troubles start from his desire to protect the c-pawn; <tpstar> is right.
