Nov-23-04  Knight13: 8... Qc6?? what a blunder. I don't think he saw the move Bd5 at all. His plan was 9... Qxe4 10. Qxe4 Bxe4, winning a pawn.

<Think before you make a move.>

Nov-24-04  InspiredByMorphy: 4. ...Nxd4 is just plain bad. Of the different ways of handling the scotch, I like 4. ...Qh4 the best.
Nov-24-04  iron maiden: <IBM> Wow, I thought I was the only person in the world who enjoyed that line.
Nov-24-04  sandyobrien: 4. ... Nxd4 is pretty much out of theory.
Nov-24-04  InspiredByMorphy: <iron maiden> It is a very underrated and powerful weapon! Good to see that Im not the only one as well :)
Nov-24-04  sandyobrien: <IBM> i've never played that line, it would be fun.
Nov-24-04  InspiredByMorphy: <sandyobrien> This game is captivating. Birds strategy in the opening is genius if you ask me. NN plays the best defense to 4. ...Qh4 according to Blackburne 5.Nb5 . NN vs Bird, 1850

  GrahamClayton: If Black's 7...Qf6 was an attempt to exchange Queens, then he should have followed through with 8...Qxd4.
