Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-21-05   chesscookie: Shirov probably played his knight sacrifice on intuition and hence lost. It's difficult to calculate all the lines over the board

A.G. Argent: <chesscookie> Well, I can see it mighta been instinct but also Shirov ain't known to sit on his hands for too long and his Knight sac 18.Nhxf5 does look a bit juicy in busting up Black's King's protection but he just didn't have the backup and it ended up bitin' him in the backside. Soldiered on though, didn't he.
