At college this was a common story in the English literature circles. Some wag went up to Thomas Hardy and said English was a funny language. Sugar was the only word in the language written 'sugar' but pronounced 'shugar'. Wondered back Hardy, "The only word? Are you sure?" |

I might point out that the word <supercAlifragilisticExpIalidOcioUs> has all five vowels in order, since nobody specified there couldn't be another vowel or two interspersed. But that would be facetious. |
