If 17...Nxa1, then 18.Rc7 Nd7 19.Qxg7 Rf8 20.Rxb7 Bxb7 21.Nxh7. If 17...Qc6, perhaps 18.Nxc2 bxc2 19.Ba3 Be6 20.Nxe6 fxe6 21.Bxe7 Kxe7 22.Qc3 Qxc3 23.dxc3 Rc8 24.Rxc2.

  fredthebear: 23...gxQf6 leads to Morphy's Mate in true form by accepting the queen sacrifice to crack the g-file, then check by the rook, followed by checkmate with the bishop on the long diagonal (as listed by wwall in the last line). Morphy's Mate is always given by the bishop (while Pillsbury's Mate is given by the second rook).
