  vonKrolock: vivacious performance by the genial Problem composer M. Vukcevich: a little point after 14...Bh4!? - 15.Ra5! Ra5 16.Qa5, now a) 16...Bxf2? 17.Rf Nf2 18.Kxf2 Qh4+ 19.Ke3! is good for White; so b) 16...Rxf3! is the best, but for a perpetual after 17.gxf3 Qg5! etc

acirce: Vukcevich was one of the greatest, I don't think anyone could compare to him at his best.

vonKrolock: yes, <acirce> his work on the Bristol theme is monumental - i saw an spectacular and extensive article on-line in matplus, i hope this is there still on-line... An obituary of the IM player & GM composer (1937-2003) appears in http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail...

vonKrolock: thanks, <acirce> - this article is essential!
Nov-16-04   Whitehat1963: Just one move short.
Dec-23-06   Dr. Siggy: In my patzer's opinion, White should have played 15.d4(!) Bxf2+ 16.Rxf2 Nxf2 17.Bg5(!), with enough advantage to go on to play for the win. Does anyone here (des)agree with me?...
