  wwall: 18...N5f6 looks OK.

If 18...Nf4? 19.Nxd6 Qxd6 (19...Nxd6 20.Be5) 20.Qf3 Rb8 21.Qe3 Bb7 22.Nf5 Qc7 23.Be5 Nxg2 24.Qg3 Qc8 25.Nxg7 with mate threats

Aug-30-05   loudubb: In my opinion Abdulla resigns prematurely.
Aug-30-05   aw1988: I think if Ndf6 there follows Bxf7+ and Qd5+ and Qxa8.

  tpstar: <aw1988> Welcome back. But please double-check (ha ha) your line = 18 ... Ndf6 19. Bxf7+?! Kxf7 20. Qd5+?? Nxd5 0-1.

This post will self-destruct in 5 minutes.

Aug-30-05   aw1988: D'oh. What happened was I got completely confused. I had originally thought "well, if Bb7 then Bxd5 obviously wins a piece... and if Ndf6, then Nxd6 wins a piece..." but then I noticed the Ne8. So I just figured there HAD to be a reason to resign so why not grab a rook? Of course, now I know. Maybe I should leave for another 10 days.

Aug-30-05   aw1988: Well, I don't see a clear win, at least not without using a computer, though I'd rather not use one.
Aug-30-05   aw1988: Well, there probably is no instant win. Still, it's clear White has a large positional advantage.
Nov-13-07   NBZ: Ndf6 Bxf6 gxf6 Bxf7+ is what prompted the resignation, I guess.

Shams: <Ndf6 Bxf6 gxf6 Bxf7+ is what prompted the resignation, I guess.> but then Qxf7 and black still isn't down material.
