Honza Cervenka: Very complex and fascinating game. 39...g3 40.Bf1 Nxh5 could have been a way to win for black. On the other hand, 44...c6 recommended by comp as winning continuation leads probably nowhere, for example 45.Bxg4+ Kc7 46.Ng3 cxd5 47.exd5 e4 48.d6+! Kc6 49.d7 e3+ 50.Kd1 Bb6 51.Nf1 Kc7 52.a5! Ba7 53.Ng3 and it is not easy to see how black can make any progress here if white will play with his Knight on g3-f1 only.

Also 34...Nxg4 35.Rb8 (threatening Bc8+) 35...Nf6 could have been an improvement. That is why 34.Rb8 would have been better for white.

37.Nd1 looks interesting but it is not sufficient for holding an equality: 37.Nd1 Bd4 38.Nxf2 Bxf2 39.Rf1 Nxe4 40.Bf3 Nf6 41.Rxf2 Kd6

Oct-03-08   GrahamClayton: This pair of games against Jaenisch are the only recorded correspondence games played by Kieseritsky.

whiteshark: After <20...Rh7> the play stopped at this point when Kieseritsky moved from Dorpat, in Livonia to Paris. Much later Ilya Shumov continued the game.
