jaime gallegos: Kotronias , greek chessplayer, played this game as his succesful national football team ( soccer in USA ) , ultradefensive but at the end ... HELLAS WINNER OF THE EUROCUP 2004 !!!
Jul-04-04  PinkPanther: Kotronias is from Cyprus.
Sep-05-04  niemzo: he moved to cyprus. he is greek. had
problems with the greek chess federation
Sep-09-05  n30: Cyprus belongs to Greece just like Korsika to France
Sep-04-06  sfm: Wow! White looks OK after 32.Bf2. Then it all explodes in very pretty ways!
Dec-10-06  ToTheDeath: Very nice breathrough on the kingside.
Apr-22-10  abuzic: 33.g3??
What about 33.Rc3!
Dec-02-10  KingG: <abuzic> <What about 33.Rc3!> It would obviously be better than 33.g3, but Black still has a very difficult position after 33.Rc3 fxg2 34.Ra1 Rg6, with the idea of ...Bh6-f4, when Bh2+ might be a threat at some point. After ...Bh6, the rook on a8 will also be able to come to f8.

plang: 22 Na3 had been played in a game at the 2001 French Team Championship; 22 cxd was new. 24..g4 would have been the most direct way to prosecute the attack. White would have had a strong initiative after 27 fxg..hxg 28 Nc7..Rxc7 29 Rxc7..gxh 30 gxh..Bd7; instead after 27 h4? Black's attack became very strong. One of the points was that28..Bg4! gained a tempo with the attack on the bishop on a5. After the blunder 33 g3? Black won quickly; necessary was 33 Rc3 though after 33..fxg 34 Ra1..Rg8 35 Rf3..Nxf2 36 Qxf2..Bh6 Black would still have had a powerful attack.
