Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-17-04  slapwa: Funny game: the deadly threat is 25. Qg1.
Jan-20-04  Hinchliffe: Slapwa doesn't 25. Qg4 do the job as well?

  technical draw: <Hinchliffe> I believe 25. Qg1 wins Q for R, while 25. Qg4 just wins the bishop.
Jan-20-04  Hinchliffe: technical draw can you explain please?

technical draw: OK. Right now the only move that black has is 24..Qf8. If white plays 25. Qg1 then black will lose Q for R after Rg8. However if white plays 25. Qg4, then black can play 25..Bg7 stoping the threats. (white then plays 26.Qxg7, winning the Bishop.
Jan-20-04  Hinchliffe: ... Qf8 25. Qg4 Bg7 26.QxB
having taken the bishop with the queen (black move anything) then white takes black queen with check black takes white queen with king white checks with bishop h6 king e8 forced rook g8 mate. I know I am missing something Technical but I can't see what it is....I guess I am being uncommonly thick here.

technical draw: <Hinchliffe> Not 26..Black moves anything, but 26..QxQ, the 27. RxQ Then black escapes with 27..f6
Jan-20-04  Hinchliffe: Technical Draw I really appreciate your time and effort .....thanks. Needless to say I would play d6.
Jan-20-04  InspiredByMorphy: Weird (1.c4) for a sicilian game. Looks like English in the beginning to me. But it makes a smooth transposition into a siclian game.
Jan-20-04  Shadout Mapes: I thought it was 24...Qf8 25.Bh6 Qxh6 26.Rg8+ Qf8 27.Rxf8+

technical draw: That could work too Shadout, but the idea is to maintain the mate threat.
Jan-20-04  TrueFiendish: Hi, guys. If we like maintaining our attack, I reckon white could also have some real fun after 24...Qf8 25.Qh5 with idea of 26.Bh6. Eg: 25...Bg7 26.Qh7 or 25...e-pawn moves 26.Bh6 Qxb4 27.Rg8+ and more fun will follow. Black felt like a quiet beer instead...

technical draw: Welcome <TrueFiendish> ..a quiet beer? Don't mind if I do!
