| May-30-04 | | rochade18: Where all rules of the modern chess game already defined at that point of time? I mean the stalemate and the en-passant-move. |
 |
| May-30-04 | | poktirity: I don't know about stale-mate and en passant but you couldn't have more than one queen because it was considered un-christian. |
 |
| May-30-04 | | iron maiden: I think stalemate, although still counted as a draw, was considered dishonorable to the player who had moved last. If I can remember correctly, en passant didn't become official until the late 1700's. |

| Oct-19-04 | | Jaymthegenius: 12.Kc3?? I think 12.Ke1 would be alot better, and the sad thing is that Greco played the refuted Latvian gambit, black was was alot better in this game, but blundered badly, and the worst part about this is that this is the 1620's equivilant of a Grandmaster Game!!! If Kasparov had white here, Greco would loose very badly, I would play 1.d4 or 1.c4 against Greco, as queen pawn or english theory wasnt around then. |

Nxd3+ 13.Kd1 Nf2+ 14.Ke1 Qxc1+ 15.Kxf2 Qxh1 and black is up a piece. <the sad thing is that Greco played the refuted Latvian gambit> Hogwash! I love how stereotypical so many chess players are towards the Latvian gambit. Why? Because they dont understand it. You fall into this category. I shouldnt be surprised though. This coming from a person who thinks the Kings gambit is refuted. < I would play 1.d4 or 1.c4 against Greco, as queen pawn or english theory wasnt around then.> Was any theory? |

| Sep-24-07 | | wolfmaster: <InspiredByMorphy> There was the theory that you would lose of you played Greco! |

| Sep-24-07 | | schnarre: Alas poor NN, we knew him well senior Greco... |

| Jan-27-08 | | wolfmaster: This was just like the last game! |

 | | GrahamClayton: According to MCO 13, in 1620 the "Italian" rules did not allow a check to be met with an interposition, hence the reason why 6. d1 was played instead of 6. e2. Can anyone confirm this? |
 |
| Apr-26-09 | | Fanacas: Well it seem treu becous 6.Be2 only seems logical even players in the 17the centry would have seen that. |
