suenteus po 147: After 41.Rf7+ it actually is a good time to resign. 41...Ke8 is mate, and 41...Kg8 loses the queen AND the rook. 41...Kg8 42.Rxf4+ Kh8 43.Rxd8+ Kg7 44.Rxg4.
Mar-17-04  notsodeepthought: Actually 41 ... Kg8 is also mate (42 R:d8), making this an EXCELLENT time to resign (move 36 or 37 would have been very suitable too for the same purpose).

suenteus po 147: I didn't see that. It just goes to show the more you post the more you learn.
Mar-17-04  Andrew Chapman: How about 31 ... Bc6 which seems to force 32 Qg4 and allows Black to exchange off most of the major pieces? Is the resulting endgame too poor for Black?
Mar-17-04  caballos2: Indeed an interesting suggestion: maybe with f3 to follow?
Mar-17-04  TheAussiePatzer: 31... Bc6 is an excellant suggestion. I am sure it is the best move. If black actually considered that option, he was crazy not to go for it: those two bishops are WAY to scary.
Mar-17-04  TheAussiePatzer: I just had a play with fritz. 31...Bc6 was the move to save the day.

Also, white could have forced a win on move 31. If you want a challenge, try and work out how, then look below.

kevin86: Another queen sac-they seem to be quite prevalent in these games--kind of like poker movies, where the winning hand is four of a kind,or a straight flush or royal flush. Show me a poker movie where the winning hand is a pair of deuces!
