Chessical: How not to play the Queen's Gambit Accepted!

<16.Rac1> also wins after 16...Kc5 17.Ne4+

<17.Rxf6!> Ahues efficiently ens the game

<20.Qd3+> is unanswerable

Jan-14-05  InspiredByMorphy: <Chessical> Well said. I think black went wrong with 8. ...Qg6 . Doesen't 8. ...Bxf3 look better for black?

Chessical: <InspiredByMorphy> Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately for Von Holzhausen <8...Bxf3> loses to the cheapo <9.Qe1+>, and the Black Q is lost.

Von Holzhausen's best course was probably the complicated:

<8...Qf5> 9.Re1+ Be7 10.Nbd2 0-0-0, and if <11.d5> Bxg5 12.dxc6 Bxd2 13.Qb3 b6 14.Nxd2 Nh6, but White is still much better.

Shams: 3...e5 and 5...Nc6 are also worthy of scorn.

al wazir: Why didn't white play the immediate 15. Re6+ ?
