| Jun-17-05 | | InspiredByMorphy: Blacks king actually looks safer in the center. I like 13. ...a5 |
| Jun-19-05 | | schnarre: For 13...a5 I would probably reply with 14. Rd3 with Nd2 following in case of ...a4. White has other options as well though. |
| Jun-19-05 | | fgh: <InspiredByMorphy>: 13. ... a5 doesn't offer anything for black, the attack can be very easily stopped after a3. There is also a interesting move for white: 14. d5! |
| Jun-20-05 | | InspiredByMorphy: <fgh> 13. ...a5 14.d5 Ra6 |
| Jun-20-05 | | schnarre: 13...a5 14.d5 Ra6 15. dxe6 Bxe6 16. Nd4 Rb6/Qb6 17. Nxe6 fxe6 18. Qxe6 I'd still favor White's position. |
| Jun-20-05 | | InspiredByMorphy: 13. ...a5 14.d5 Ra6 15.dxe6 Bxe6 16.Nd4 Qc8 17.Bf5 c5 looks like it holds. |
| Jun-20-05 | | schnarre: 13...a5 14. d5 Ra6 15. dxe6 Bxe6 16. Nd4 Qc8 17. Nxd6 Qxe6 (17...fxe6 18. Qh5+) 18. Bf5 looks to favor White. |
| Jun-20-05 | | Rocafella: Lovely game!! |
| Jun-20-05 | | InspiredByMorphy: <scnarre> 15. ...Bxe6 doesent look playable after all. 13. ...a5 14.d5 Ra6 15.dxe6 fxe6 16.Nd4 h5 looks better. |
| Jun-21-05 | | schnarre: 13...a5 14. d5 Ra6 15. dxe6 fxe6 16. Nd4 (or Rd3) h5 17. Bg6+ Kf8/Kd8 18. Nxe6+ looks fine for White. |
| Jun-21-05 | | InspiredByMorphy: <scnarre> True enough. Nice analysis! I was also looking at the dangerous looking 13. ...O-O and found why it looks so dangerous. 13. ...O-O 14.Bxh7+ Kxh7 15.Nh4 threatening 16.Qh5+ and 17.Re3 Would you dare to say white has a positional advantage after 13. ...O-O-O ?
Or did black simply miss some defensive resources... |
| Jun-21-05 | | schnarre: <InspiredByMorphy>In most games I've seen 0-0-0 tends to not serve Black well with the temporary vulnerability of the a pawn a concern, & allowing White a great deal of momentum thereby. I would be interested in seeing perhaps 13...f5 with perhaps 14. Bd3 Rg8 15. g3 & now 15...a5 might give a little better fight of it (I could be mistaken here, but what do you think?). |
| Jun-21-05 | | InspiredByMorphy: <scnarre> Unfortunately 13. ...f5 loses a pawn to 14.Bxf5 . After further review I think black went wrong earlier than on move 13. Why was 9. ...gxf6 played instead of 9. ...Bxf6 ? If 9. ...Bxf6 was played then 10. ...O-O would have treated blacks king much better (not to mention not having the burden of doubled pawns). |
| Jun-23-05 | | schnarre: 9...Bxf6 might have not been played in lieu of 10. g4, 11. h4, 12. g5 with White getting 0-0-0 at some point in which case Black would be better off trying ...0-0-0 instead of ...0-0. |
| Sep-25-05 | | Rohan: According to Horowitz Bxf6 is refuted by Qd3 which prevents black castling threatens BxNP and prepares castling long.Any thoughts / variations? |
