Kibitzer's Corner
May-24-04   shr0pshire: interesting rotabatasch, I have never seen anyone on the master level play this opening like this before.

By move 19 I think that black is equal here because of his pawn structure, even though he has a knight to white's rook. Also black is one pawn up at this stage.

The longer the game goes on, the doubled rooks become too strong, and become a winning formula for white.

aazqua: Black was proabably better by the middle game. DOwn the exchange but white's pawns were horrible. It's not so much a case of the rooks being stronger as it is poor play by black. Giving up the knight was clearly not intentional. 24 ne4 starts things down a bad path. Black can't give up his bishop for a knight in this situation.
