Kibitzer's Corner
May-13-05  Uchechi: White's game is as good as lost. His knignt is almost trapped. Also, playing moves like 30.b3 or 30.c3 does no good.
Jun-23-05  schnarre: Usually I see 3...dxe4 against the 3.f3 line.
Jun-23-05  Shams: <schnarre> as do I, but this looks very strong too. Only one other game in the db with 3...Qb6; white played 4.c4 and won: K Shirazi vs P Staeger, 2001

Here 6...exd4 looks like it forces the queens off and white is saddle with an isolated e-pawn -- always a liability with 3.f3

I tried for a couple minutes to make 7.Nxd4 work; no verdict yet. Can anyone improve on this for either side?

7.Nxd4 Bc5
8.Be3 (Nce2? ...Nf6 is horrible for white)...Qxb2
9.Na4 Bb4+
10.Kf2 Qa3
11.c3 Bxc3

and now 12.Nb5?! just doesn't work out. I think black holds. I bet this was part of Chiburdanidze's preparation.

Jun-24-05  schnarre: <Shams> Looks like it! Black should hold out well. I'll have to check 3...Qb6 out for myself.
Jun-24-05  Shams: I uploaded more games in this line-- should be up in a week or so. I'll post a link.
Jun-24-05  schnarre: <Shams> Appreciate it!
