iron maiden: If I had dreams like this I'd lay off the junk food after dinner. "Well, like, there was this armadillo ballet and then I played a chess game with NN and then..."
Jun-21-04  Minor Piece Activity: Yes! Chessgames.com finally found a way to put compositions in the database! Although it's too bad NN has to weather yet another loss. =D I guess it'd be too crazy to make up a new file called "Bronstein's subconscious?" =D

chessgames.com: The database doesn't permit us to have Bronstein as both players in the game so we gave poor old NN another loss. Fans of NN shouldn't fret, because now games which are categorized as "dreams" are put in the same class as "simuls" and do not effect statistics.

iron maiden: Exceptional play by Bronstein considering his eyes were closed the whole time.

I think I'll have a dream about beating Greco with a double-piece sacrifice and king-hunt, just to destroy his hundred-percent record.

Eatman: That's quite some dream, Mr. Sorcerer's Apprentice!
Jun-21-04  ychjae: Bronstein is too crazy in playing chess.
Jun-21-04  Nomen Nescio: A poisoned bishop!
My record remains a solid +32 -446 =22 (8.6%) :)
Jun-21-04  PinkPanther: That's insane that he played that in his dream...and if he did, not only does he have a fantastic imagination, but he has a fantastic memory as well.

<Nomen Nescio>
Bhhahsadfhashalaahahaahah....for some reason I think that's another chessgames.com poster using a different alias.

Jun-21-04  MatrixManNe0: Hm... okay... dreaming...

How could he have made such errors, even in his dreams?!

  kevin86: Freddy Kruger chess-how odd!

Actually Bronstein played white and Kruger played black-lol

notsodeepthought: <chessgames.com> In that case, why not give NN a break and have him play black and Bronstein white...? Oh, never mind, nobody would believe the result.

Ziggurat: <MatrixManNeO>: Which errors are you referring to?
Jun-21-04  diablotins: Did we know in what way the chessboard was turn in his dream ? Did he was seeing the game as the white player or black ? or both !? Did he was dreaming of winning, or losing ?
Jun-21-04  poktirity: This is a sign of that you are playing to much chess...
Jun-21-04  ruylopez900: A nice game, Bronstein catches his opponent "offside" with the bishop sacrifice.

<MatrixManNeo> Yes, what mistakes?

Jun-21-04  Halfpricemidge: I've always had this reoccurring dream about a bunch of people trying to cut off my right hand at the kitchen table. Playing a life-size chess set is also kinda' freaky.
Jun-21-04  Nomen Nescio: <PinkPanther> I also post under the name <FerociousBeast> Maybe you have seen me around? I'm kidding! This is my only name.
Jun-21-04  molinov: i prefer the games that Bronstein played while he was awake.

Andrew Chapman: 14. Nd2-e4 looks like it might help with both c3 and f2 while attacking the black queen at the same time.

Jack21221: I have had dreams of chess games before, but usually only when I am half-asleep/half-awake with a high fever.
Jun-22-04  MatrixManNe0: Come now, not defending the f2-square seems to be a mistake.

Whitehat1963: Last night I dreamed that I played a blindfold simul against Kasparov, Karpov, Kramnik, Anand, Fischer, Botvinnik, Tal, Alekhine, Capablanca, Lasker, Morphy, Deep Blue, Fritz, Junior, Shredder, Spock, Data, Hal9000, George Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, Colin Powell, Condolezza Rice, the DOD, FBI and CIA. I gave them each rook and move odds and announced a forced mate in 65 or less for each of them. Then I woke up. Oh, sorry, I forgot to write down the moves! :0(

dac1990: Too bad, especially since some of the players you were playing have the tremendous handicap of being dead. Or in the government. Either is still pretty big odds in your favor.

Ziggurat: <Ne0> So, what you are saying is that White should have played 14. Nde4 instead, or am I misinterpreting? I agree that it would have been better, but Black's position would still have been overwhelming. Maybe Bronstein dreamt (?!) 14. axb4 instead in order to get a nice finish.
Jun-22-04  uponthehill: Once I had a chess dream :)

I was sitting in front of the man (i didn't know him) at the chessboard. He talked to me:

"Ok, we know that pawn is worth 1, bishop and knight 3, rook 5 and queen 9. But if so, how much worth is the king?"

:)
