Knight13: I like how bird attacked the white king from the beginning. And Bird stopped the pawn from promoting. Good game.
Feb-13-05   mrdasd: Actually, this score is in error. The correct finish was 47...Bg2! 48.Kd4 Kf5 and Black wins. In the score given (which has been repeated in various databases), White wins immediately with 48.c6!

Also, earlier, 41...Be6 is a mistake.
Loewenthal points out 41...b6 was correct.

The correct score is given the Westminster Chess Club Papers (Potter) and Loewenthal and Medley's notes in BCA.

TheAlchemist: White lost by a Wisker.
May-25-05   WorldChampeen: I think, by the end of this century, the Sicilian will be looked at the way we look at the King's Gambit nowadays.
Jul-21-08   fblin: Sorry .. but why 48 c6 wins?
48 ... Bxc6
49 e6 Kf6 and black wins
Jul-21-08   Alphastar: <fblin> the game score was incorrect; I suppose it was 47. ..Kf5 (?) 0-1 first. Then, as <mrdasd> says, 48. c6! would win immediately.
