White did not play the opening well and got a little bit worse position but after that he played quite inventively. 28.Nc6 was probably very unpleasant surprize for Blackburne [28...Bxc6 29.Rxc5 ; 28...Rdc8 29.Rxc5 Bxc6 30.Rec3 ; 28...Nd7! 29.Re7 (29.Rxb5 Rdc8 30.Ne7 Nb6! 31.Rxb6 Rxe7 32.Rxe7 axb6 33.Re3 Rxc2 =) 29...Rdc8 30.Kb4 a6 31.Ka5 ].
