Knight13: Good use of the White Knights. Looks like Black was playing defence and White was playing defence and offence. Good game.
Dec-09-04   drukenknight: 53...Rc8 looks suspicious, cutting off the K, the K remains outside of the "box." hmm.
Dec-09-04   beatgiant: <53...Rc8 looks suspicious, cutting off the K, the K remains outside of the "box." hmm.>

What would you suggest instead? If 53...Kc8 54. a7 threatens 55. Rxc6 and appears to win a piece for White immediately.

Dec-09-04   drukenknight: 54...Ba8?
Dec-09-04   beatgiant: If 53...Kc8 54. a7 <54...Ba8?> as suggested by <drukenknight>, then 55. Rb8#.

Black's been positionally lost long before move 53.

Dec-09-04   drukenknight: 54...Bb7, sorry.
Dec-09-04   beatgiant: If 53...Kc8 54. a7 <54...Bb7> as suggested by <drukenknight>, then 55. Ne8 threatening both Nxc7 and Nd6+, and White's winning material.
Dec-09-04   nosh: <drunkenknight> 54 ... Bb7 55 Rxe6 leaves white with a central passed pawn and the passed a pawn. If 55 ... Bc6 (to attack the a pawn with the rook), 56 Re8 causes the a pawn to queen (unless I'm missing something). If 55 ... Ba8, I think 56 Re8 would still be good (getting the d pawn for the a pawn I think).
Dec-09-04   nosh: Or beatgiant's continuation... probably even better.
