  chessgames.com: We found some games attributed to John Lennon online here http://snow.prohosting.com/~batgrrl... but it's unclear what their source is.

"batgrrl" is SBC, is that correct? Maybe somebody can chase her down and ask her.

  BishopBerkeley: <chessgames.com> I believe it is traditional to send up the "bat signal" when you want to summon <SBC>:

http://www.central.edu/homepages/li...

Or, you might post a small note over on the Paul Morphy message board (she frequents this board).

(I believe she may also have an email contact posted at her own (excellent) Paul Morphy site: http://batgirl.atspace.com/index.html )

On the subject of the Beatles, I was surprised to learn that all four of the original Ed Sullivan shows on which the Beatles appeared in the U.S. are available on DVD, complete, unedited, with all the other guests that appeared and all the original commercials, too:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...

From one online reviewer:

===

Included are the entire shows - all of Ed's other guests [among others, I believe, Frank Gorshen playing Frank Sinatra as President of the United States, and Soupy Sales also] as well as some hilarious TV commercials for Lipton tea, Anacin, and Pillsbury cakes and breads! Not only is this DVD collection a treasure trove for Beatles fans, but also for vintage advertising buffs!

I found that watching the entire shows offered an excellent vantage point into American society in the mid-1960's... and how The Beatles fit into the whole panorama of what was going on here during that era....

  cu8sfan: <Benzol: The Fool On The Hill?> As the Bishop is called "Le Fou" (= "The Fool") in French, this would make a great chess-themed pun for a game of the day.

<BishopBerkeley> Very funny post, send up the bat signal to summon <SBC>. Very funny. (-:

I had found these games on a Portuguese site about 6 years ago. I wouldn't have remembered that, except that in the notepad file in which I had pasted the games, I had made myself a key with which to interpret the Portugese pgns:

Portuguese
C=Knight
A=Bishop
D=Queen
T=Rook

I did save the URL, but it's a dead link now.

Although I admit my naïveté back then concerning the accuracy (or lack thereof) of published information, it's worthwhile to note that the games do have opponents' names listed and at least a year date. This gives them a bit more credibility. So, as a result, I would say these games could at the least be considered "alleged" or "likely" even, though by no means positively ascribable.

  technical draw: Well with those results we can only say that the Beatles can't play.
May-03-06   SBC: <cu8sfan>

First there is the King and Queen.
Then the Knight and Rook convene.
And all that's left there in between
Is Le Fou sur la colline.

May-05-06   DeepBlade: Queenmate!

Reallly good trap, some devilish good tactics!

Bang bang, Haessler's golden Knight fork made sure his Queen was dead.
