| Apr-12-05 | | gadfly: <Always a Scotch Man> I am not saying that it is a particularly good line, but it definitely is playable. It tends to open things up a little bit, which, depending on your style of playing, might compensate for the disadvantages that you mentioned in your post. 4...Bc5 and 4...Nf6 are definitely stronger that 4...Qh4, but this does not render it unplayable - it might serve well as a surprise weapon. I hope that you would not go as far as calling it <quite a bad move> as <chessography> did, because in that case you would simply be wrong. I personally would not play the Steinitz variation as black, I have to admit. BTW, very nice to see another Scotch enthusiast here. The Scotch game is my favorite opening as white, although with the black pieces my response to e4 is almost always the good old Sicilian. |

| Apr-28-05 | | RookFile: I find this game really impressive
and modern looking, from "The Turk". |
| Dec-01-05 | | Chopin: Spectacular finish! |
| Mar-27-06 | | Chess Classics: First, good game. Second, it was GOTD on my birthday. Third, TMBG and especially in this song rock! Regards,

| Mar-28-06 | | 64 Squares: NN put up a better fight then Napoleon at least. |
| Apr-17-06 | | Chessography: <gadfly> Wow, I come back to this game a year later just to look at it for fun, and I don't even remember kibitzing it. Anyways... Don't lecture me about 4... Qh4, I know about the line, I have played against it, and it really is not very difficult to meet. And by the way, learn to spell my name. |
| Apr-23-06 | | Chessography: 5. Nc3 is also the best move, better than Nf3 or Nb5. |

 | | OhioChessFan: It looks like d6 would have to be much better than d5. |

| Mar-28-07 | | AAAAron: "Nobody's Business But the Turk's"- is a lyric from the song Instanbul was Constantinople, by They Might Be Giants |
| Mar-28-07 | | shalgo: <"Nobody's Business But the Turk's"- is a lyric from the song Instanbul was Constantinople, by They Might Be Giants> "Istanbul (not Constantinople)" was written by Jimmy Kennedy and Nat Simon and originally performed by The Four Lads in 1953. It was later memorably covered by TMBG. |

| Mar-28-07 | | Plato: The Turk perished by fire in 1854, but I suspect that Alexander Konstantinopolsky was its reincarnation. |
| May-27-07 | | babakova: Why they changed it I can't say... People just liked it better that way. |
| Jun-27-07 | | Jake Robertson: The turk was a machine with a man inside of it |
| Oct-09-07 | | wolfmaster: <Jake Robertson> I believe that is correct, the story soon got out after The Turk got destroyed by a fire. |
| Jan-28-08 | | wolfmaster: Obviously, the man inside the Turk was a strong player(nice sacrifice). |
| Mar-30-08 | | Samagonka: Whoomph! Turk it is! |
| Jan-01-09 | | WhiteRook48: two rook sacrifice in fact. |
| Jul-24-09 | | just a kid: 5.Nb5!? is an interesting move. |
| Jan-11-10 | | rich187113: The turk looks about 1800 Elo. |
| Jan-11-10 | | zanshin: Not that bad a game really - Black's problems started after <23...Nxb4?> allowing the strong <24.Qd4>. |
| Jan-12-10 | | Oliveira: So we may suppose Tibor Scardanelli have played this one. |
| Jul-13-10 | | cuppajoe: <Oliveira> Not likely; Tibor Scardanelli is a fictional character. |
| Oct-03-10 | | vijay.kumar: nice game.. |
| Dec-13-10 | | Oliveira: <cuppajoe> I know, I was just kidding. |
| Jan-29-11 | | YoungEd: I think that maybe 5. f3 is more like !? than ? or ?!. White gives back the pawn, strives for better development, and tries to prove that Black's is out too early. It all seems reasonable enough for me--and it has a perfect record in the database! |
