acirce: ..Bf6 was played. I'm going to be really brave now and predict a draw.
Sep-28-04  cannibal: theyve already agreed on a draw
Sep-28-04  chessway: bxa5 bxd4 rxd4 r xe2
Sep-28-04  Phoenix: Draw agreed. I expected a tough struggle from Leko today, but he got surprised by another equalizing novelty from Kramnik.

acirce: It seems game is drawn already, yes. Wow, you got to admire Leko's preparation ;-)
Sep-28-04  JohnnyManitoba: they have been bred to play chess, starting very young. They have devouted a better part of thier lives to this game-now they are only vaguely human, simply put their minds have been wired thusly as chess has been part of growing up. Oh and Canada rocks!!!!
Sep-28-04  catfriend: I won't accuse the players, they played fine, but I'm personnaly disappointed!
Sep-28-04  Rowson: Draw... i stay up until 1:00am for another draw... oh well
Sep-28-04  percyblakeney: I'm surprised Leko couldn't come up with anything better after thinking 50 minutes on the 18th move.
Sep-28-04  walmart: regrets. I was looking forward to 21 ... c5. bye
Sep-28-04  RubinsteinAK: <redribbon> These games are prearranged, so they aren't memorizing 20-30 moves in all of their opening variations. They're just memorizing the games themselves.
Sep-28-04  eigis: position is equal, but in game's begining position is also equal... Why don't play equals positions???
Sep-28-04  aw1988: Draw agreed.
Sep-28-04  Drstrangelove: That the fighting spirit that will win you th title Leko!!!......

acirce: It's not about lack of fighting spirit from Leko, it's about extremely lousy preparation and the fact that he's, well, just not playing well.

It is a gift. I have a chess friend who once showed me a whole game he had see me play three years earlier.
Sep-28-04  Rowson: What does the computer say looking at it i'd say if anyone had an advantage it'd be black...

suenteus po 147: It seems the Petrov is Kramnik's new weapon to equalize the play for black in this match. Leko will need to do some serious preparation and study if he hopes to accomplish anything with 1.e4 as white in this match.
Sep-28-04  JohnnyManitoba: well I also stayed up, but oh well! happy b-day Rowson! g'day y'all!!!
Sep-28-04  azi: boy, there wasn't much action on the kingside in this game

  tpstar: Eggman's gonna love this!
Sep-28-04  Rowson: Chess fans enjoy my brithday. Goodnight.
Sep-28-04  ReikiMaster: good call <acirce> - again!
Sep-28-04  Kean: Exactly, if you want to win then you try a different variation that do not allow an equal position. But the cause of this is the better preparation of Kramnik against e4. He is neutralizing the match and he could win if not lose a step.
