Well you guys are keen puzzle solvers but I cannot post many puzzles on the POTD site as it will muddle up the main puzzle site. I have got many puzzles, even harder ones. If you guys had a chess forum I could post them there. What I suggest you visit my forum (just click on my handle or avatar and you'll get to my forum) and indicate if you wish the puzzles posted there ( and you post their solutions only there). I will follow up your desire whatever it is. |

I don't mind - you learn through your mistakes, but just occasionally it is also nice to learn from doing something right! |

| Mar-20-12 | | Once: The interesting thing here is that black just kept on hammering at the h file. No matter how many pieces white put on the file, black just kept on hammering away. You might call it a woodpecker mate. Rat-a-tat-a-tat. Oxspawn's solution is fun and just as good. I suppose that I gravitated towards 35... Rh4+ because it only gives white one reply. And variations that give our opponent only one reply are often interesting. But 35...Nf3+ also mates. Okay, so it might give white three different replies but each of them end in a grisly demise. Well spotted, sir! |

| Mar-20-12 | | KingV93: Well...I missed the 'obvious' move, unfortunately, and it is rather apparent, though tough for a Tuesday.... but what is the opinion here of 34...♕xf2 35.♗xe5 ♕xg2+ 36.♖xg2 ♖f1+ 37. ♖g1 ♖fxg1# Probably just overcomplicating the more elegant puzzle solution given but I looked at 35.♗xe5, 35.♗e4, 35.♕d1 and can't seem to find a good refutation. Since there are many stronger players here and good analysts as well I was hoping to solicit an opinion without resorting to Fritz, not that there's anything wrong with that, just don't feel like it today. |
