Aug-15-05   sbhartia: May be I am wrong but black could have played for a draw by repeting to give checks just as black was doing on move 45,45 etc. Since these are GM's so I must be wrong. can someone please correct me.

Thanks

Aug-15-05   foolishmovesss: Your assumption looks correct to me. Black must have missed whites winning continuation. or perhaps the queen check were just to reach time controll, and black thought he was winning. Good catch.

whiteshark: At an open tournament with 10 GM and 50 IMs as in Berlin 1987* you have to win almost every round for a price money rank.

Draw or losing doesn't make a difference.

* Gad Rechlis won with 7.5 point ahead of 7 players with 7 points. Black ended with 6.5 points with 21 more players at rank 9-30.
