playground player: I love the Polish Opening and play it every chance I get. No more having to bother with the Sicilian Defense, or the French. But in all the Polish games I've played, I have yet to encounter 2...e6 and 3...f5.

fredthebear: Black plays a Dutch defense and sets up a "fishin' pole" battery attack on the h-file, but White does not bite. Naturally, White counters in the center. The game comes to a sudden conclusion when Black safeguards and centralizes his bishop which also threatens a back rank mate next move. White interferes w/the Rc8 plans to checkmate by offering obstruction with his supported queen! It's suddenly over, just like that. Black has two hanging rooks and weaknesses on the 7th and 8th ranks. Sokolsky seems to excel at eventually penetrating w/a knight and heavy piece in his games.

Dec-23-18  Messiah: 24. ♖b4 - this strangulating move seems to be even stronger, but black is already significantly worse, anyway.

23. ...g5 is obviously bad, however, it is very difficult to recommend any move here as ♗xa6 ideas are constantly floating, and the e-file is vulnerable.

The silicon monster suggests 15. ...♘f6 - a sad move that tries to stabilize the center. Black is still worse after it.

Probably 14. ...a6 slows down the queenside steamroller enough not to lose on the spot.

13. ...c6 was absolutely required.

Generally, during the game black should have moved ♙a6/b6/c6, but it is not clear when (and which one) was absolutely necessary. By the time ♙a6 occurred, it was already too late, white already dominated the queenside.
