May-31-05  vonKrolock: <27...Rc1> black could try here 27...f5!?: a)28.Bb7? Rb8! and the bishop is trapped; b)28.Bb1 Rc1 29.Rd1 (best) Bf1!? and black is somewhat better; c)28.Bd3 Bd3 29.Rd3 Rb5! and black is much better
Jul-20-06  OtisTFirefly: You rascal another scalp of note.Really well played. Tell me do you set out to play a liquidation and draw type of game or is that the way it pans out? Please do not think this is a critism in any way because I can assure you I have nothing but the greatest respect for your accomplishments. I really just wanted to know what it is like to sit down and play a GM and what thoughts run through your head prior to the game.Have you a plan and is the pressure enormous and do you know in advance what opening the GM will play?
Jul-20-06  MichaelJHuman: Anything wrong with 10. d5? According to opening explorer no one has played that move from that position.
Jul-20-06  euripides: <Michael> I think <10 d5> runs into 10...exd5 11 Nxd5 (Bxf6 dxc4) Nxd5 12 Bxd5 (Bxe7 Nxe7) Bxh4. 10...Nxd5 is also possible

Benzol: Hi <OtisTFirefly>, <Cogano> asked me the same question. No I didn't set out for a material liquidation and then draw type of encounter. As <vonKrolock> points out above 27...f5 may well have won a piece for two pawns but I had to move and missed the follow up 28...Rb8 OTB. I don't know if you've ever played in a simul but playing a GM is not really any different from playing a lesser ranked player. Drazen (a nice bloke btw) is mainly an 1.e4 player so when he played 1.d4 my expectations went out the window. I didn't know what he would play but my only thoughts were to play as well as possible and give him a good game. This was my first ever game against a GM.

  Richard Taylor: Good game Paul.
Feb-03-11  wanabe2000: Well played <Benzol> finding the resource 37...e4. Trying to lock the position with 37...f4, which I looked at, seems to lose after 38.e4 and Black must give way.
