Apr-03-06		CapablancaFan: True, Capa's king hardly gets a moments rest in this game as it remains under fire a good portion of this game. Capa defends well as his king travels from one side of the board to the other. The final position is amusing as Capa's once often attacked king is the one to deliver the final denouncement.

But i have a question: i like 53...f3 and 54...hxg4 opening the h-file, but why does Capablanca plays 58...Kf4 instead of 58...Rh6? White can make some checks, but doesn't black escape by playing ...Kf4 later?

White can make some checks, but doesn't black escape by playing ...Kf4 later?> That line dosen't work for this reason, if ...58.Rh6 white plays 59.Qf5+! ...Kh4 (black's only move) 60. g5!! and black could resign there. Why? The g5 pawn would be threatening the rook on h6 with capture also at the same time threatening mate with 61 Qg4++. And even if ...60.Qxg5?? 61.Qh3 is still mate! Capablanca saw this obviously and opted for a more...direct line. The final position is offered as evidence that his line was correct.

Apr-04-06		wolverine199: yes... you're quite right... i missed the check at f5 by the queen and the resulting position. Again, Capa the endgame expert :).

Dec-30-08		sleepyirv: Amazing, White gets amazing pentration for the exchange sac. but can't seal the deal against Capa.
