Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-27-05  Whitehat1963: Farsighted even exchange of material -- Rook and Bishop for Rook and 3 Pawns -- from the Player of the Day. (Did he see it from the beginning?) Was it 32...Rh8 or 33...Kb8 that was the colassal blunder? Would 32...Re8 have been any better?
Apr-27-05  Karpova: 32....rh8 33.qh8:? qf7:
33....kb8?? loses a rook - there's no question which move was worse.

32...rh8 forces the white queen to g7 where it threatens qc3+ (that's what he wanted to prevent by 33...kb8??) with the same result as 33...kb8?? (irony) because qc3+ forces the king to b8 (bg1) and qh8:+ follws. so 34...b6 was necessary (34...bf8? 35.rd7:+)

black was probably in deep time trouble.
