Feb-20-05  justy: I guess 20.Bxf8 would have been preferable for white...
Feb-20-05  Albertan: Justy good point! One interesting line which could have resulted from 20.Bxf8 was

20. Bxf8 Rxf8 21. Rxb5 Rxd4 22. Bf1 Be2 23. Qe3 Qxc1 24. Qxc1 Rd1 25. Qxd1 Bxd1 26. Rb7 Rc8

  patzer2: Good for equality for White is the previously discussed defensive combination 20. Bxf8!?, which Fritz 8 slightly modified with 20. Bxf8!? Rxf8 21. Rxb5 Rxd4 22. Bf1! Be2! 23. Qe3 Qxc1 24. Qxc1 Rd1 25. Qxd1 Bxd1 26. Ra5 Ra8 27. Bg2 Re8 28. h3 Re1+ 29. Kh2 Re7 30. Rd5 Bc2 31. Rd2 Bb1 32. a4 =. In this sequence, 20. Bxf8! equalizes for White, while 22. Be2! saves Black's bacon.

However, White's decisive blunder was not 20. Bxc4 but 21. Bxb5?? What White should have played instead per Fritz 8 was 21. Rc3! bxc4 22. Rb7 Re7 23. Rxc7 Rxc7 24. Qe2 Rxd4 25. Qe5 Rdd7 26. Qb5 Bf8 27. Rxc4 (+1.22 @ 15 depth).
