Mar-10-05  Akavall: Awesome game/finish by Topalov.
Mar-10-05  charms: Black could srely have had a draw at some point by playing Qf2+ on time. A nice game considering it started in a closed sicilian.
Mar-10-05  azaris: Okay, I need a pun for this game for my collection. Any suggestions?

AgentRgent: Great game, but Now LUNCH!!! I'm starved! lol
Mar-10-05  euripides: perhaps Kf4 h5 g4 would have won for White ?
Mar-10-05  rochade18: so... who's the winner of Linares?!?
Mar-10-05  Timur: My goodness !!! Kasparov went for the line of disaster. Congratulations, Topalov
Mar-10-05  Dick Brain: actually now Topalov and Kasparov split the 1-2 money but Kasparov gets the title.

Ulhumbrus: The win is not surprising, ...Kd7 invited defeat.
Mar-10-05  Ezzy: Kasparov wins linares!!!! more wins with black.
Mar-10-05  MoonlitKnight: +5 =6 -1 from both players is amazing in a field like this! But Topalov is the moral victor of Linares!
Mar-10-05  ewenardus: i can't believe it. i can believe i thought the endgame was drawing, but kaspy going into that? just don't understand what happened there. i think Qf2+, or even Qd8 would have drawn, right?

AgentRgent: <azaris> A Knight on the Rim can sometimes Win!
Mar-10-05  Lipsome: seems like Garry lost it more then Topa won it.....Topa took advantage of his mistakes quite nicley....bravo
Mar-10-05  Stevens: so, for 3 1/2 hours we get "its a draw, it's a draw" ad nauseum, and then, lo and behold, someone went and won!!!! I thought this game was drawn at move 6?!?
Mar-10-05  sharpnova: oh give me a break. kasparov played like absolute @#$%. doesn't mean topalov is a champion. i could have won that @#$%ty game after Qxf1
Mar-10-05  OJC: < azaris > "Topping Kasparov"
Mar-10-05  percyblakeney: Well done, Topalov, my prediciting him as tournament winner was at least not the worst of my predictions even if he's losing it on the tiebreak...
Mar-10-05  saad: poor anand he will lose ggggg

acirce: They split the money as well? Then there is absolutely no difference apart from the highly technical detail that Kasparov "gets the title" on some arbitrary tiebreak rule. For all intents and purposes, they are co-winners. Congrats to both.
Mar-10-05  tanginamo: so kasparov won't gain 13 points. how many points are going to be added to his rating now?

Ulhumbrus: Exactly how does white penetrate the position here? I will have to get hold of my chess set.
