Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-22-05  DanRoss53: 29... Ng4+ 30. Kf3 Nxh2+ 31. Kf2 Rf1# -- I'm pretty sure the score is wrong.
Jul-31-05  sneaky pete: <DanRoss53> I agree. The Oxford Encyclopedia also gives 1-0, but this must be a clerical error. Old magazines were in the habit of ending the score of a game at this point with "Black announced # in 3 moves".

In 2 other games from 1820 against Brand (note the <round 3> designation of this game) Jacques Francois Moret aka The Turk scored a win and a draw giving pawn and move odds.

Nov-25-05  Steppenwolf: Chessgames.com, could you correct the score, please? Sneaky Pete has it right, it is obviously a win for black. Mouret was a very strong french "Turk".
Nov-08-07  uniqueid: Yes the game score is obviously wrong. Good for a Wed/Thur puzzle after 27.Ne6
Jan-17-09  WhiteRook48: Mouret resigned in a won position!
Jun-16-11  squaresquat: I'll wager Mourot was like one of Napoleon's
general officers. He's not going to allow himself to be mated on the back rank; after surviving the retreat from Moscow and the battle of Waterloo, he knew when to give it up.
