Perhaps black could improve with 13...Bxd6, hoping to trade off the knight and play ...Bf5 or ...Qf5 ...? |

| Mar-13-06 | | blingice: I think I have fallen completely in love with the Danish Gambit, especially the Danish Gambit: Accepted, Copenhagen Defense, that moves 1. e4 e5 2. d4 exd4 3. c3 dxc3 4. Bc4 cxb2 5. Bxb2. White has two bishops already slamming into the kingside, a queen that is free to help against the kingside, and black has no pieces developed, and an unskilled player will be defeated by any capable play of the opening. click for larger viewThis particular variation in this game is interesting, because Steinitz realizes that the extra pawn isn't worth the kingside threats. Still, he has trouble developing after whites jumpstart. |

 | | WarmasterKron: <blingice> I'm a great fan of the Danish as White, and the intial position does indeed look promising. However, consider 5...d5! 6.Bxd5 Nf6 7.Bxf7+ Kxf7 8.Qxd8 Bb4+ 9.Qd2 Bxd2 10.Nxd2 c5. click for larger viewObjectively, it's very equal, but psychologically, it's not much fun for White. |
