Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-02-05  InspiredByMorphy: 15.h3 seems too defensive. 15.h4 would have helped slow down the pawn advance without having to retreat the bishop.
Dec-20-07  andynmac: How's 24. f3 look? Prevents Ng5+ and allows the Q to protect g2. Still ugly for White, though...

Phony Benoni: <andynmac> If 24.f3, then 24...h3 looks interesting. White can no longer play 25.g3, and after 25.g4 Bxg4 26.hxg4 Nxg4+ looks like it has the potential to be devastating.

whiteshark: Past belief! The only <Soller Gambit> game in the DB.
Dec-20-07  andynmac: <Phony Benoni>: you're right (of course), although white has no h pawn to play 26. hxg4, which makes it even more devastating! I don't think there is anything here for White, but the text move (24. Qa6+) looks a bit like a petulant check rather than an honest attempt to turn the game...

  BLarsen1967: <InspiredByMorphy>I guess You're right about that.. - But then,after 15.h4,things like,say 15..gxh4 16.Bxh4 Rg4 17.Nf3 Rhg8 18.g3 Bxe3 19.Ne2 Bc5 - it's not much fun for White!
