Jul-22-05  DanRoss53: Queen odds and NN only gets to play thirteen moves. The first nine are acceptable... but NN could have done better with 10... d5, 11... h6, or 12... Rf8. 13... Kf8, of course, is forced.
Oct-31-05  gazzawhite: Are there any other queen odds games in the database?
Dec-06-05  aktajha: It's obvious that people didn't understand chess systematics in that time; instead of devoloping as quickly as possible in the King's gambit; to gain eqaulity (which should be easy with queen odds; you already have a huge advantage at the beginning), NN checks the opponent; lets his queen be chased away to it's starting square (already Cochrane gets a huge advantage in development) and moves his black squared bishop too often; he should have let him stand on b6.
Dec-06-05  erimiro1: <aktajha >This game tells nothing, because "NN" was a real patzer. But you are right, that the chessworld needed to wait few more years to Morphy.
Dec-25-06  Rubenus: <gazzawhite> William Norwood Potter vs NN is another one. I don't know how to make a link
Feb-21-07  crptone: No fair! Cochrane has the advantage of a vacant d1 square, which he proceeds to exploit in his attack. This positional advantage outweighs his lack of a queen.

Feb-23-08  wolfmaster: NN never develops. Period.

  sallom89: funny queen odd :D
Aug-16-08  TheTamale: Yes, but let's give NN some credit for vanquishing Cochrane's queen before play was even underway,

Phony Benoni: I believe the pun is a quotation from Johnny Cochrane, O.J. Simpson's defense attorney in his famous murder trial. Someone else can figure out how it refers to the game.

<Wolfmaster> Qutie right. One should always get the pieces out and see what develops.

Once: <Phony Benoni> Something to do with the name of the white player, perhaps?

Road crash chess - NN self destructs. Queen or odds or not, this can't have been any fun for black.

Nov-30-08  NewLine: It's a shame this game even happened

Bishoprick: NN played against some of the strongest players in the world over several centuries, and always, but always, managed to lose. Is that any way for a vampire to spend eternity?

waustad: <Bishoprick>There are actually some wins and draws by NN too. If you look he must be related to Dr. Who with the big question mark earring ;-)

Caissanist: There are quite a few queen odds games in the database, mostly from the nineteenth century. Capablance received queen odds in a game played when he was four and won easily: R Iglesias vs Capablanca, 1893

Zenchess: 2 NN sightings from 2008:

Harikrishna vs NN, 2008
Bacrot vs NN, 2008

It looks like he's taken up Internet chess now.

Nov-30-08  njchess: Ouch! For both the pun, and the game...

kevin86: I judge this to be a beiiliant game by the winner---but the loser is GUILTY of chess malpractice,(not to be confused with the famous writer,Mel Chesspractice, lol)
Dec-01-08  AnalyzeThis: Lasker proved that not having the queen is an advantage. He played an amateur, and every time he didn't have the queen, he won, but whenever the amatuer didn't have the queen, Lasker lost.

:)

Dec-31-08  WhiteRook48: wow. excellent game by Cochrane.
