  crafty: 45. Nc6 Kg8 46. Na5 h4 47. Nc6 Qe6 48. Ne7+   (eval 0.93; depth 15 ply; 1000M nodes)
Jun-06-05  tldr3: 45.Ke8??? wow its amazing that a top grandmaster would miss the simple mate.does anyone know how much time Leko had on his clock at this point?
Jun-06-05  cuendillar: Probably enough time to make him avoid the repetition 45.Kf8 Nd6+ 46.Kf8 Nc6. He must've seen that at least.
Jun-07-05  e4Newman: i like 18...fxe3. white's f5 knight can't be moved, and g3 is not a critical square at this point.
Jun-08-05  paul grandi: perhaps Leko had not a long time to think about
Jun-08-05  fgh: <paul grandi>: No grandmaster would make such blunder even while having 2 seconds on his clock. It's impossible to understand how Leko could overlook a simple mate like this one.

refutor: <no grandmaster would make such a blunder even while having 2 seconds on the clock>

why? is it any worse than this? V Tukmakov vs Korchnoi, 1970 these things happen in time trouble

Jun-23-05  paul grandi: to fgh

of course§

Jul-11-05  fgh: Well, maybe I'am playing too much 0+1 on playchess, so I never overlook a mate in one move, even in extreme time pressure, but still I can't understand why Leko allowed mate in one move.
Oct-11-05  blingice: It isn't marked as a checkmate in the last move frame...
