  plang: Since white's plan with 5 Bd3 is to capture on e4 5..Nc6 (inviting d5 with tempo) seems illogical; perhaps 5..e6 would be an improvement. 8..e6 9 d6 works out poorly for black but a kingside fianchetto doesn't look promising either. Speelman explained that the advantage gained by 13 Nh7 was more the gain of the g5 square than the winning of the pawn. 18..Qc7 19 Bf4..e5 20 Qd5+..Kf6 21 Ne5+..Ne5 22 Rb7 is awful for black. A really entergetic game from Speelman from start to finish.
