holy tramp: Could someone explain to me why black resigns? If the black queen cannot take the bishop at c5 because of Rd1xd8, there seem to be plenty of safe moves available + black has a material advantage anyway. As for me, I'd probably just play Qe8, but then again I have the skills of a hamster.

tpstar: White just sacrificed the Queen for Rook and Knight to win more material:

1) 21 ... Qxc5 22. Rxd8 wins the Bc8 (22 ... Qe7 23. Rxc8 Rxc8 24. Nxc8 Qc7 25. Nb6)

2) 21 ... Qe8 22. Bd6 traps the Rb8 (22 ... Bg4 23. f3 Ne6 24. Bxb8 Qxb8 25. fxg4)

So White will have RNN or RRN against Q which is a decisive material advantage, although Black could have played on further.
